Birds Eye Maple Double Inlaid Gm Drone Flute

A piece of outstanding Birds Eye Maple that I don't see very often down here in Tucson, Arizona. Lots of curl and big, luscious eyes. You can click on the images to get a better look. Ordinarily, I'll cut the flute off on the "south" end to get the tuning right, but this wood is so lovely that I couldn't cut all that wood off. Instead, I made the Slow Air Chamber (S.A.C.) longer in order to use all the wood available and not waste any so we have more of the beauty. Hence, this flute is a tad longer than my normal Gm flutes, around 25" total instead of the usual 23" or so requiring a bit more of a reach to get to the holes. The hole spacing is still normal for a G-minor flute, accessible to most players.

I offer this type of flute in my "Drones" page, but I wanted to include it in the "Artisan Flutes". Still the same price as a normal Birds Eye Double Inlaid Drone. If you add the right amount of pressure while breathing into the drone side, it will jump up an octave, thus giving it two notes instead of one for your drone.
